Comparing Vimeo, Wistia and other business video hosts: what really matters
By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026
Business video hosts all look similar on their feature pages. The real differences show up in pricing rules, limits and how easy it is to leave. Here's a fair way to compare them.
Compare like for like
Put each host side by side on the same points, using their current published pages.
- Player: clean, branded, no outside adverts.
- Privacy: control over where videos can play.
- Analytics: who watched, and how much.
- Pricing: published, or 'contact sales'?
- Limits: bandwidth, views, storage, and the cost of going over.
- Leaving: can you export everything easily?
Why limits matter most
Feature lists rarely cause problems. Limits and renewals do, as many reviewers of Vimeo describe.
“After years as a Vimeo customer, we were suddenly given seven days to accept a $7,500 annual contract or face suspension of our videos.”
Where Blue Flame Media fits
I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.
You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.
Questions people ask
- What should I compare between video hosts?
- The player, privacy controls, analytics, published pricing, usage limits and how easily you can export your library.
- Can I move from Vimeo to Blue Flame Media easily?
- Yes. The built-in Vimeo import brings your videos across, including those in folders.
Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
