Charged by Vimeo after a trial or renewal? How to ask for a refund
By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026
Unexpected charges after a free trial or renewal are among the most common complaints in Vimeo's reviews. Some people do get their money back quickly, so it's worth asking properly.
What other customers report
“Signed up for a free trial, decided I didn't want it, canceled it more than 24 hours before trial was to expire (as per their instructions) then they went and charged me for a years worth of services anyway!”
“Support was very understanding and offered me the refund within half an hour!”
How to ask
- Write to Vimeo support with the date, amount and the last four digits of the card.
- Say clearly whether you cancelled before the renewal, and attach proof.
- Ask for a full refund and a written confirmation that the subscription is closed.
- If you get no answer, speak to your bank about your options.
Where Blue Flame Media fits
I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.
You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.
Questions people ask
- Does Vimeo give refunds?
- Some Trustpilot reviewers say support refunded them quickly; others say they had to push hard. Ask in writing and keep proof.
Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
