Vimeo pricing: the costs that aren't on the pricing page

By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026

The plan price you sign up for isn't always the price you end up paying. These are the extra costs other customers say caught them out.

Bandwidth and custom plans

If your videos are watched more than your plan allows, you may be asked to move to a custom plan priced by sales.

“Vimeo's solution? Increase our subscription from approximately $750 to a staggering $5,000 per year!”

Being moved to a different plan

One reviewer says their account was reclassified and moved to a far more expensive plan.

“Last year, our annual Vimeo Plus subscription cost us $108. This year, without any meaningful change in how we use the service, Vimeo automatically classified our account as a corporate account and moved us to its Studio plan for $4,800 per year.”

Automatic renewals

Annual plans renew automatically unless you turn renewal off. Set a reminder a month before your renewal date.

“Billing me without letting me know about my renewal before hand.”

Where Blue Flame Media fits

I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.

You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.

Questions people ask

Is Vimeo expensive?
The listed plans can look affordable. Many reviewers say the problem is what happens later, when bandwidth or plan changes push the price into the thousands.

Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
