Vimeo OTT alternative: putting your videos on TV without enterprise pricing
By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026
OTT just means your videos are delivered over the internet to TVs, phones and computers, without a cable company in the middle. A lot of businesses want this, but expect a big quote before they can start.
What a business TV channel really needs
- Your videos organised into clear rows or series.
- Your own name and branding, not the host's.
- A way to show the same library on TV, on your website and on phones.
- Pricing you can see before you speak to anyone.
Why people look for an alternative
The complaints we see in Vimeo's 1-star reviews are rarely about video quality. They are about price, deadlines and support, which matter even more when a whole channel depends on one provider.
“What should have been a straightforward video hosting service turned into a frustrating experience filled with commercial pressure, threats of service suspension, and incredibly poor customer support.”
Blue Flame Media and connected TV
Connected TV is where Blue Flame Media started. Your library can be shown on your website, on embeds and in TV apps, with subtitles in the player's CC menu everywhere.
Where Blue Flame Media fits
I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.
You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.
Questions people ask
- What does OTT mean?
- Over-the-top: video delivered over the internet straight to the viewer's TV, phone or computer, instead of through cable or satellite.
- Do I need an enterprise plan to have a TV channel?
- Not necessarily. Compare published prices first, and ask any provider what is included before you sign a long contract.
Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
