Vimeo paused or suspended your account? What to do in the next 7 days
By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026
If Vimeo has paused your account, or says it will, every embedded video on your site can go dark at once. Here's a calm plan for the week.
What other customers report
“They simply suspended my account after I paid more than R$2,000 for an upgrade because I had reached the bandwidth limit. However, they didn’t even warn or notify me about it.”
“We pay $780/year for the Advanced plan, paid through Nov 28, 2026. On Oct 9, 2026, Vimeo's sales team told us our account would be paused in 7 days over bandwidth usage. Then came the price: a Custom plan at $5,900/year.”
A seven-day plan
- Day 1: reply in writing and ask for the notice period your plan promises.
- Day 1: start importing your library into a second host.
- Days 2 to 4: switch embeds on your sales and course pages first.
- Days 5 to 6: switch the rest and check every page.
- Day 7: decide calmly whether to pay, negotiate or leave.
Where Blue Flame Media fits
I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.
You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.
Questions people ask
- Will my embedded videos stop working if Vimeo pauses my account?
- Videos on a paused account may stop playing wherever they're embedded. Move your most important ones first.
Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
