Video hosting for business: a buyer's checklist that avoids surprise bills

By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026

Business video hosting should be boring. Your videos play, they look like yours, and the bill is the same next year. Here's how to choose a host that stays that way.

The checklist

  1. Privacy: can you stop videos playing on sites you don't own?
  2. Branding: is the player clean, with no outside adverts or suggested videos?
  3. Organisation: can you use folders for a large library?
  4. Accessibility: can you add subtitles easily?
  5. Insight: can you see who watched and for how long?
  6. Cost: are prices published, and what happens when views grow?
  7. Freedom: can you import your library in and download it out?

The question most buyers skip

Most people check features and forget to ask what happens when videos get popular. That is exactly where many Vimeo reviewers say their trouble started.

“After years as a Vimeo customer, we were suddenly given seven days to accept a $7,500 annual contract or face suspension of our videos.”

Where Blue Flame Media fits

I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.

You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.

Questions people ask

What is the best video hosting for a small business?
One with a clean branded player, privacy controls, folders, subtitles, simple analytics and published prices. Ask what happens when your views grow before you commit.
Is free video hosting good enough for business?
Free platforms are fine for being discovered, but they usually show adverts and other people's videos. For sales and training videos, an ad-free host looks more professional.

Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
