How to move all your videos off Vimeo without losing your folders

By Craig Crawford, founder of Blue Flame Media · 20 October 2026

Moving hosts sounds like a big job. With a plan, it's mostly waiting. Here's the order I'd do it in.

The plan

  1. List every website page, course and email where a Vimeo video is embedded.
  2. Import your library into the new host. In Blue Flame Media, connect Vimeo and the import brings videos across, including those inside folders.
  3. Play a few videos from each folder to check they work.
  4. Swap the embeds on your most important pages first, then the rest.
  5. Only cancel Vimeo once every page is switched.

Why do it before a deadline

Reviewers describe deadlines as short as seven days. Start early, even if you hope to stay.

“After years as a Vimeo customer, we were suddenly given seven days to accept a $7,500 annual contract or face suspension of our videos.”

Where Blue Flame Media fits

I built Blue Flame Media after Vimeo did this to me. It is a simpler video platform with managed hosting, folders, a branded player, subtitles and analytics. You don't need any technical setup.

You can bring your Vimeo library across with the built-in Vimeo import, folders included, so you are not re-uploading hundreds of files by hand. Our prices are on the pricing page for anyone to read.

Questions people ask

Do I have to download every video first?
Not with Blue Flame Media. The Vimeo import copies them across for you, folders included.

Quotes are short, word-for-word excerpts from public reviews. They are those reviewers' own experiences, which we can't check. Vimeo is a trademark of its owner. Blue Flame Media is not connected with Vimeo.
