Bring your own key
Use your own Bunny.net account
Your own key means unlimited storage and delivery, billed to you by Bunny at pennies per gigabyte, while Blue Flame Media only charges for the player and the tools. It takes about ten minutes and there is nothing to install. Follow these six steps in order.
Step 1
Create your Bunny.net account
Go to bunny.net and press Sign up. Use the email you want the hosting bills to go to. Confirm the email they send you, then sign in. Add a small amount of credit when it asks - ten dollars is plenty to start, and it is pay-as-you-go, not a subscription.
Step 2
Create a video library
In the left menu of Bunny's dashboard, click Stream, then Add Video Library. Give it any name you like - your business name is fine. For the region, pick the one closest to most of your viewers. Press Add Video Library.
Step 3
Copy the library ID and library key
Open the library you just made, then click API on its menu. You will see a Video Library ID (a number) and an API Key (a long string). Copy both. The key is a password - do not post it anywhere public.
Step 4
Copy your account API key
Click your profile picture in the top right, then Account Settings, then API. Copy the Account API Key. This one lets Blue Flame Media create collections and switch subtitles on for you, so you never have to go back into Bunny.
Step 5
Paste them into Blue Flame Media
In Blue Flame Media, open Settings, then Hosting. Choose 'I bring my own key', paste the three values into the three boxes, and press Test and save. We check them against Bunny straight away and tell you in plain words if anything is wrong.
Step 6
Upload one video to prove it
Go to Videos, then New video, and upload something small. When it turns to Ready, open it and press Copy embed code. If that plays on your own page, you are finished - every future upload, folder and embed lands in your own Bunny account.
How your keys are kept
Keys are encrypted before they are stored and are only ever used by our servers on your behalf - they are never sent to a browser and never shown back to you in full. You can replace or delete them from the Hosting screen whenever you like, and deleting them stops us touching your Bunny account at all.
Subtitles stay credit-based either way: transcription costs $0.20 per minute of audio and only runs on videos you approve one at a time. Nothing is transcribed automatically.
